Sooo… Apologies this post is a day late but I obviously got stoned and forgot to post this…
Yesterday was the day we cannabis enthusiasts wait for all year – 420! Let’s figure out how this day came to be… Since the origin of the term “420” is constantly debated, and there are multiple theories about where it came from. Here are some of the most popular ones we’ve heard before:
1. The Waldos:
One of the most widely accepted theories is that 420 originated with a
group of high school students known as the Waldos in San Rafael,
California during the early 1970s. The Waldos would meet at 4:20 p.m.
after school to smoke and go on hunts for an abandoned outdoor cannabis
crop they’d heard about. They used the term “420” as a code word to
refer to their smoke seshes, and it eventually caught on among their
friends and spread more widely.
2. The Grateful Dead:
Another theory is that 420 originated from the band the Grateful Dead.
Some believe that it was a term used by the band and their fans to refer
to cannabis related festivities, such as smoking and consuming mass
quantities of cannabis during their concerts and gatherings.
3. Police code:
Some believe that 420 originated as a police code for cannabis-related
activities. However, there is no evidence to support this theory,
because it’s likely bullshit…
The exact origin of 420 remains uncertain, and it’s likely that it has
multiple origins and has changed over time. Either way, it’s become
widely recognized as a term we all use for cannabis related
“activities”…
Have a Happy 420 from all of us at Curated Cannabis! Without your support we wouldn’t be here today.
Thanks and be safe!
