Curated Cannabis Essentials Guide

When it comes to smoking cannabis, there are several essentials you may need. I took some time to think of what some of my must have items were to consume all our products. These items can vary depending on personal preference and the method of consumption, but here are some essentials for you:

"Profile photo of Mist cultivar"

·       Cannabis: The most fundamental requirement is, of course, Live Cured Flower or other cannabis products such as our Live Resin Sugar or pre-rolled Mini-Blunts. Choose a cultivar and product that suits your preferences and desired effects. Go to our Retailers section of the site to find some near you!

  • Pipe: These are perfect for first time smokers and folks that want something reliable they can take on the go. I prefer a Sherlock with a nice big bowl. It’s ergonomic design makes it my favorite to hold. You can read more about different pipes in our post So What About Pipes and Bongs?
"RAWs rolling papers"
  • Papers: Some quality rolling papers are nice for times when you want to roll up a little joint. I typically smoke joints while smoking indoors because the smoke from blunts can get heavy. I usually go with RAW King Size papers (you can read more about papers in our previous post).
"Loose Leaf blunt wraps"
  • Blunt Wraps: My favorite wraps are made by Loose Leaf. They’re perfectly cut, moist, and flavorful. The company is from SoCal, and they come in a lot of different flavors (you can read more about them in my post on How to Roll a Perfect Live Cured Flower Blunt). Blunts are my favorite way to go and when I don’t have time to roll one, I grab one of our Mini-Blunts (shameless plug).
  • Bong: You can’t go wrong with a straight tube glass bong. It’s a simple design and easy to clean. You can get strong satisfying rips that are filtered and cooled through water. Read about my thoughts on a bunch of different bong options in a previous post.
"Volcano Vaporizer set up"
  • Vaporizer: A cool thing to have around if you truly love experiencing the full spectrum terpene profile of our flower. Since our flower is more flavorful than traditionally cured flower, you’ll get an amazingly immersive experience. The PAX vaporizer is great for on the go, and if you got the cash, pick up the Volcano vaporizer for home. I cover both in our blog about Flower Vaporizers.
  • Grinder: A grinder is useful for breaking down the cannabis flower into a smaller, more smokable consistency. It helps ensure an even burn and enhances the overall smoking experience. If you’re a heavy smoker like me, you’ll want a large grinder so you can grind up lots of flower at once.
  • Lighter or matches: You’ll need a source of flame to ignite the cannabis. A lighter or matches are used for this purpose. Some folks stay away from butane lighters, so they prefer to use the lighter to ignite a hemp wick that they then can use to light things with. Matches are trickier than lighters, but I like using them with blunts when I can.
  • Ashtray: An ashtray is helpful for collecting the ash generated while smoking. It keeps the smoking area clean and tidy (I feel like I need to remind friends of this constantly). I notice some folks buy a smaller ash tray not thinking of the quantity of what they’ll be putting inside it, so buy accordingly. I need a rather large one at home.
  • Rolling tray: If you prefer rolling joints or blunts, a rolling tray provides a designated space to organize your cannabis, rolling papers, filters, and other accessories. It helps keep everything in one place and prevents any spillage or loss of materials. Again, buy a size that fits your needs (I also legitimately own this large size tray).
  • Dab rig: A rig is a must in my collection. If you like taking things to the next level, then get a dab rig and start experimenting with concentrates like our Live Resin Sugar. A dab of concentrates produces a more intense rapid onset of the effects than smoking flower. A nice blunt and a dab is the best way to kick off an evening. You’re ultimately going to have to decide between an electric rig or one you need a torch to heat. I own both, but I recommend going the electric route if you’re new to dabbing. We’ll cover more about concentrates on our next post.
  • Cleaning tools: Regular cleaning of your smoking devices is important to maintain their functionality and hygiene. Tools such as pipe cleaners, cotton swabs, and alcohol wipes can be handy for cleaning pipes, bongs, vaporizers, and dab rigs. Heavy use requires heavy cleaning to ensure your devices are ready to provide the best cannabis consumption experience.
  • Odor control: Smoking cannabis produces a distinct aroma. If you want to minimize or control the odor, consider having items like air fresheners, incense, or odor-neutralizing sprays nearby. Even though cannabis is legal in California I sometimes cover up its scent. I only consider covering it up when I’m going someplace like a courthouse and don’t want to be hassled. It’s a bummer that it still isn’t completely accepted and sometimes you feel like you must cover the smell. I typically wear it like a badge of honor!

Start small with a grinder, a rolling tray, and a pipe if you’re just building your collection. Otherwise focus on expanding your gear to take things to the next level. There’s more advanced vaporizers like the Volcano and crazy new dab rig inventions that seem to come out every week to explore. Remember start slow, always buy quality, and shop local to help support your community.

Stay safe and stay stoned
